Hold My Hand

When I got the news of Kang Wei being offered a job in Oslo, Norway for a year, lots of things started playing in my head. The house, the cars, our parents, loved ones, our dog, financial woes, etc. There was excitement, but fear is far more distinct as the date of departure approaches. I will be so so far from home and won't be able to come back as often as I wish. The amount of tears I cried during this time can already fill a bucket. As I carried these heavy burdens and cares, I longed for a strong hand to hold mine to keep me steady and secure. Isaiah 41:13 came to the picture. I kept assuring myself that God will take care of everything and everyone in Malaysia. Indeed, He did, by settling the house, cars, Kang Wei's taxes etc. in His perfect timing.

White as snow

It's still snowing in Oslo almost daily. Every morning, as I look out my window from the 8th floor and enjoy the quietness, I see the whole city covered in a thick blanket of snow - each scene more beautiful than the previous day. I couldn't see potholes, grass, rubbish or any dirt. Everywhere I looked was white, clean, unblemished snow. Simply beautiful.

One Saturday afternoon when Kang Wei and I was at the Holmenkollen ski jump area, the whole place is practically covered with thick blanket of snow. Every time the sunlight hits, the snow sparkles, like beautiful tiny diamonds all over. Even more beautiful when snowflakes fall on our faces, they were like sprinkles of tiny diamonds falling from the sky. It was indeed a marvelous sight and reminder of God’s awesome hand in Isaiah 1:18 (NKJV) - “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool.”
